In the wake of the highly destructive storms that struck Southeast Michigan this summer, the Greater Metropolitan Association of Realtors® (GMAR), working with the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and the Realtors® Relief Foundation, reached out to the communities affected by these catastrophic events. We recently focused our efforts on families in White Lake and Armada Township, which were hit by a devastating tornado causing millions of dollars of damage. Despite insurance assistance, homeowners in these areas still faced significant repair costs.

GMAR is proud to work with those affected by the storms to provide assistance with mortgage payments and reduce the financial burden of these storms. This October, the Realtors® Relief Foundation accepted applications from 19 households and provided over $17,000 of mortgage assistance to families.

Realtors® remain committed to the stability and vibrance of our local communities. We strive to make individual homeownership possible for all those that desire it. We know that homeownership is a life goal essential to continued prosperity for ourselves and our community. However, when events happen outside of our control, they can threaten and endanger the security that homeownership brings.
